The Shooting Menu (j, k, l or m Mode) Image Quality Enter shooting mode M d button M j, k, l, m or M tab (A13) M Image quality Set the image quality (compression ratio) used when saving images. Lower compression ratios result in higher quality images, but the number of images that can be saved is reduced. a b Option Fine Normal (default setting) Description Finer image quality than Normal. Compression ratio of about 1:4 Normal image quality, suitable for most applications. Compression ratio of about 1:8 C Image Quality Setting • The image quality can be set in any shooting mode. The setting is also applied to other shooting modes (except shooting mode M and Easy panorama scene mode). • The setting may not be changed when using certain settings of other functions. C Number of Images That Can Be Saved • The approximate number of images that can be saved can be checked in the monitor when shooting (A26). • Note that due to JPEG compression, the number of images that can be saved may vary greatly depending on the image content, even when using memory cards with the same capacity and the same image quality and image size settings. In addition, the number of images that can be saved may vary depending on the make of the memory card. • If the number of exposures remaining is 10,000 or more, the number of exposures remaining display shows "9999."
