Using the Self-timer The camera's self-timer can release the shutter about ten seconds after you press the shutterrelease button. The self-timer is useful when you want to be in the picture you are taking, or when you want to avoid the effects of camera shake that occur when you press the shutterrelease button. When using the self-timer, use of a tripod is recommended. Enter shooting mode M any flexible button M press I M flexible button 2 (i Self-timer) 1 Press flexible button 2 (j 10 s). • M is displayed. • When Y Smile timer is selected, the camera uses face detection to detect a human face, and then automatically releases the shutter when a smile is detected (A 47).
