Editing Pictures Use the COOLPIX S520 to edit pictures in-camera and store them as separate files (A 122). The editing features described below are available. Editing function D-Lighting (A 49) Crop (A 50) Small picture (A 51) Description Create a copy of the current picture with enhanced brightness and contrast, brightening dark portions of the picture. Enlarge the image or refine the composition and create a copy containing only the portion visible in the monitor. Create a small copy of pictures suitable for use on web pages or as e-mail attachments. More on Playback C Picture Editing • Pictures taken at an Image mode setting of P16:9 (3200), s 1:1 (2448), s 1:1 with black border or s 1:1 with white border (A 87) can not be edited. • The COOLPIX S520 editing functions are not available for pictures taken with non-COOLPIX S520 digital cameras. • If a copy created using the COOLPIX S520 is viewed on a different digital camera, the picture may not be displayed or may not be transferred to a computer. • Editing functions are not available when there is not enough free space in the internal memory or on the memory card. D Original Pictures and Edited • Copies created with editing functions are not deleted if the original pictures are deleted. The original pictures are not deleted if copies created with editing functions are deleted. • Edited copies are stored with the same recording date and time as the original. • Edited copies have the same transfer marking as the original but are not marked for printing (A 84) or protecting (A 101). 48
