Flash modes and functions Taking close-up photographs with bounce-down flash When the distance between the camera and subject is less than approx. 2 m (6.6 ft.), you can take more natural-looking close-up pictures using the wide-flash adapter. • Be careful when using a long lens that the light from the flash is not obstructed by the lens barrel. • Vignetting may occur in close-up flash photography due to the illumination pattern, lens in use, focal length setting, etc. Therefore, make test shots before shooting an important assignment. • When the SB-900 is attached to the camera and used as the only flash unit, tilting down the flash head is recommended to ensure sufficient illumination of the lower portion of the subject in close-up photography. • A bounce-down icon appears when the flash head is tilted down. Taking close-up photographs with bounce-down flash
When the distance between the camera and subject is less than approx. 2 m (6.6 ft.),
you can take more natural-looking close-up pictures using the wide-flash adapter.
Be careful when using a long lens that the light from the flash is not obstructed
by the lens barrel.
Vignetting may occur in close-up flash photography due to the illumination
pattern, lens in use, focal length setting, etc. Therefore, make test shots before
shooting an important assignment.
