System connections Do not plug in the cord until all connections have been made. General Always make sure that you connect the left and right channels correctly. Terminals on equipment and cables, when color-coded. usually employ the convention of red for the right channel. (Red=Right) Note to CATV system installer: This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer's attention to Article 829-40 of the NEC, which provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical. Connect the antenna to the FM 300 ohms terminals and place the antenna on a wall or other surface in the position in which reception is best. If signal strength is low in your area, use a multi-element FM outdoor antenna and connect to this unit using a 75 ohm coaxial cable because this type of cable is more resistant to interference than 300 ohm cable. Consult your ONKYO authorized service center about the right type of antenna for your area. NOTE: Do not use the same antenna for both FM and TV (or VCR) reception since the FM and TV (or VCR) signals can interfere with each other. If you must use a common FM/TV (or VCR) antenna, use a directional linkage type splitter. Directional linkage type splitter To receiver To TV (or VCR) Antenna and Speaker (CENTER) Connections Press down the lever.
