Recording pictures (advanced) Recording pictures (advanced) Taking Pictures using Economy Mode In Economy mode, the camera reduces the brightness of the LCD monitor and works as follows to reduce the battery power consumption. Preparation • Set the mode dial to [ ]. (P29) Conditions Operation When 15 seconds passed without any operation. • The message [MONITOR OFF] blinks for 2 seconds. When 5 seconds passed without any operation after taking a picture. (Effective only when [ECONOMY] on the [SETUP] menu is set to [LEVEL2].) (P23) MONITOR OFF • The LCD monitor turns off. How to turn the LCD monitor on again • Press any key. When 2 minutes passed without any operation. The camera is turned off. (Power save mode is activated.) How to turn the camera on again • Press the shutter button. • Turn the camera off and then turn it on again. ¬Suggestions/Tips ¬ • The LCD monitor is also turned off when you charge the flash. • The Economy mode is not activated while the menu screen is displayed or the self-timer is set. 53
