Playing a video cassette [VHS] Other operations of Video cassette (These functions may not work depending on the recording conditions.) VHS Index Search System (VISS) The index search function makes use of the index signals recorded on the cassette to help you find the beginning of a desired program quickly and easily. While stopped or during normal play, press [:] or [9]. ≥Each press increases the number of skips. ≥Press [∫] to cancel the search. ≥Up to 20 index signals can be searched in either direction. OK Frame-by-frame While paused, press [1] (;1). Each press shows the next frame. ≥Press and hold to change in forward succession. ≥Press [1] (PLAY) to revert to normal playback speed. ≥It cannot go in reverse direction. S-VHS Quasi Playback (SQPB) This unit can play tapes recorded in S-VHS. ≥Some picture noise may occur depending on the type of tape used. ≥It is not possible to fully obtain the high resolution S-VHS is capable of. 26 RQT9412 Changing audio during play You can change the audio type each time you press the button. The tape counter is automatically reset when inserting a video cassette. Adjusting the playback picture Manual Tracking The unit usually makes tracking adjustments automatically, but you may need to do it manually if noise appears. However, automatic adjustment may take longer, or adjustment may not be possible depending on the cassette. In such cases, adjust it manually. While playing, press [TRACKING/V-LOCK r] or [TRACKING/ V-LOCK j]. Repeat until the picture noise disappears. ≥ Press [TRACKING/V-LOCK r, j] at the same time to return to auto tracking. ≥Audio may change to normal audio if it is adjusted too much. ≥This function may not work with some tapes. ≥To eliminate noise for paused images or during slow playback, adjust the tracking while playing back in slow playback. Vertical Locking Adjustment Adjust the vertical synchronization to stop the picture from shaking while paused. While paused, press [TRACKING/V-LOCK r] or [TRACKING/ V-LOCK j]. Repeat until the shaking stops. ≥Press [TRACKING/V-LOCK r, j] at the same time to return to the standard position. ≥This function may not work with some tapes. ≥The playback picture may be unstable during special playback (Pause, Slow playback, Cue/Review). When you play back a tape recorded in other than the SP mode, the picture and the sound may be unstable. However, these are not a malfunction. ≥Tapes are automatically rewound once they reach the end (except during fast forwarding, etc.).
