It will serve you well if you treat it right, with proper handling and reasonable care. The major causes of damage are: 1. Dropping or banging the camera against immovable objects, which can damage the camera in many ways. 2. Water damage, particularly if the camera is submerged in salt water. Cameras are not water-proof! They must be protected from salt spray at the beach, splashing of any kind, and shielded from the rain.
