Trace design on the wrong side of fabric and baste a piece of contrasting material to right side. Trim excess material close to the line of stitching and go over the edges of the applique with medium-wide satin stitches. To make the design more visible, run a filler thread (pearl thread) under the satin stitching. Or accentuate the applique with a line of Automatic embroidery.
