Chapter 2: Recording and Playback QuickTime™ and a decompressor are needed to see this picture. Editing DVD Discs You can edit a DVD±R or DVD±RW disc you recorded using the DVD recorder. Once a rewriteable disc is finalized, it can be edited. However, writeonce discs (DVD±R) cannot be edited once they have been finalized. Only DVD±RW discs can be erased. 1. While playing the disc, press the TITLE button on the remote. The Edit menu appears. 2. Use the up and down arrows to highlight the title you want to edit and press ENTER. • Erase Erases the selected title(s). Choose to erase one title or all titles. • A-B Erase Erases the A-B points on a DVD±RW disc (or a DVD±R disc before it has been finalized). • Select Selects the currently highlighted title. • Rename Renames the selected title. • Chapter Edit From this menu, you can add, delete, hide, and show chapters. • Index This feature allows you to choose what image frame of the title you want to use as the thumbnail image for the disc. When selected, the title starts playing. Press RECORD when the frame you want is displayed. • Divide You can divide a title into two separate titles. When selected, the title starts playing. Press RECORD to set the divide point. • Finalize Only used with DVD±R discs. In order for a DVD±R disc to be played in other DVD players, you must finalize it. Discs are automatically finalized before they are ejected, unless you choose to do it later through this feature. • Protect Protects the recording on the disc from being recorded over. • Format Formats the entire disc so that it can be recorded on. Editing DVD Discs
You can edit a DVD±R or DVD±RW disc you recorded using the DVD recorder. Once a rewriteable disc is finalized, it can be edited. However, write-
once discs (DVD±R) cannot be edited once they have been finalized.
Only DVD±RW discs can be erased.

While playing the disc, press the TITLE button on the remote. The Edit menu appears.
