Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder [ADF] If the exposure glass or ADF belt is dirty, copy clarity may be reduced. Clean these parts if they are dirty. To clean the ADF, clean 1 and 2 as shown in this diagram with a soft damp cloth. Do not use wet rags or spray any liquids in the feeder. Keep loose objects away from feeder as these will cause damage and machine failure. Important Do not use chemical cleaners or organic solvents, such as thinner or benzene. If such substances get inside the machine or melt plastic parts, machine failure will occur. Do not clean parts other than those explicitly specified in the copier manual. Other parts should ONLY be cleaned by your service representative. Always use caution and care when cleaning, handling or using the document feeder. Originals Not Suitable for the Document Feeder •Stapled, clipped, perforated, or torn originals •Curled, folded, or creased originals •Pasted or sticky originals, such as translucent paper •Coated originals, such as thermal fax paper, foil, art paper, or carbon paper •Originals with indexes, tags, perforated lines, or other projecting parts •OHP transparencies •Thick originals, such as postcards, and flimsy originals of low stiffness Contact your Service Representative for issues regarding the document feeder if you are unsure what to do to avoid damage or injury.
