6.4 POWER DISSIPATION 800GB standard 2.5" models in 6Gb operation (Models ST800FM0013, ST800FM0023, ST800FM0033, ST800FM0043, ST800FM0053, ST800FM0063) Typical power dissipation under idle conditions in 6Gb operation is 3.30 watts (11.26 BTUs per hour). To obtain operating power for typical random write operations, refer to the following I/O rate curve (see Figure 6). Locate the typical I/O rate for a drive in the system on the horizontal axis and read the corresponding +5 volt current, +12 volt current, and total watts on the vertical axis. To calculate BTUs per hour, multiply watts by 3.4123. To obtain operating power for typical random write operations, refer to the following I/O rate curve (see Figure 7). Typical power dissipation under idle conditions in 6Gb operation is 3.30 watts (11.26 BTUs per hour).
To obtain operating power for typical random write operations, refer to the following I/O rate curve (see Figure 6). Locate the
typical I/O rate for a drive in the system on the horizontal axis and read the corresponding +5 volt current, +12 volt current,
and total watts on the vertical axis. To calculate BTUs per hour, multiply watts by 3.4123.
