Recording in RAW format using a RAW recorder (sold separately) Preparing to record in RAW mode * On the PXW-FS5, this function is supported using Ver. 2.0 or later. An upgrade license for the option is required (see page 5). Obtaining an install key In order to use the RAW recording function on the PXW-FS5, it is necessary to purchase the "CBKZ-FS5RIF" (sold separately), obtain the install key via the Internet according to the following procedure, then install the option on the camcorder. For details, follow the procedure in the Installation Guide of the "CBKZ-FS5RIF" (sold separately). Purchase the "CBKZ-FS5RIF" (sold separately). r Obtain an install key. r Install the option on the camcorder. r Record in RAW mode. * On the PXW-FS5M2/FS5M2K, purchase and installation of an option is not required. Connecting devices for recording Signals output from the SDI OUT jack of this camcorder can be converted by the HXR-IFR5 (sold separately), and recorded as RAW images on the AXS-R5 (sold separately). 70 Camcorder HXR-IFR5 Interface Unit Battery pack 75 Ω coaxial cable (commercially available) AXS-R5 RAW Recorder • The software version of the AXS-R5 must be Ver. 1.20 or later. When shooting RAW images, the following settings on the camera are recommended. - White balance: 3200K, 4300K, or 5500K - ISO sensitivity/gain: Minimum ISO sensitivity/0 dB Notes when shooting RAW images • You can trigger an external recorder to start/stop recording by pressing the START/STOP button on the camcorder. However, the status of the external recorder cannot be checked on the LCD screen. • Triggering an external recorder is always enabled when recording in RAW. The recording trigger status is displayed on the LCD screen of the camcorder. For details, see the icon description (p. 71). • The recording date, time, and color bars cannot be recorded when recording in RAW. • Flicker adjustment is disabled. • Images are recorded in 17:9 in RAW, but are displayed on the LCD screen of the camcorder in 16:9 (Edge Crop). • When recording in RAW, SDI output settings are disabled. • RAW images recorded on an external recorder cannot be played back on this camcorder.
