English General Safety Warnings and Instructions for BatteryPowered Products This section contains the prescribed general safety warnings and instructions for battery-powered products contained in UL 2595. WARNING Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, explosion and/or serious injury or property damage. 1. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch lever is in the offposition before inserting the battery 2. Remove the fuse key and battery before picking up or carrying the mower and before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the mower accidentally. 3. Recharge only with the charger specified by STIHL. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery. 4. Use the mower only with the specifically designated batteries. Use of any other battery may create a risk of fire or explosion and personal injury or property damage. 5. When the battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Do not store it in a metal container. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire or explosion. 6. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation, chemical burns or respiratory illness from inhalation. 7. Do not use a battery or mower that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion and risk of injury or property damage. 8. Do not expose a battery or the mower to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 212° F (100° C) may cause fire and explosion. 9. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery outside of the ambient temperature range specified. Charging improperly or outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. 10.
