TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you have followed the instructions contained in this manual and have difficulty in operating your VCR, locate the SYMPTOM in the left column below. Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION columns to remedy the problem. SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE No power. • Power cord is not connected. • POWER button is set to off position. Timer recording is not possible. • The timer recording is set incorrectly. • The timer recording is not set to on position. • VCR clock is not set correctly. Rec mode cannot be engaged. • The record safety tab on cassette is missing. No picture or poor picture • The TV channel selector is not set to on playback. the proper channel. • The TV fine tuning is not set correctly. Noise in picture on playback. • Video heads are dirty. No picture on TV. • The VCR is in TV mode. Playback picture is partially noisy. • The TRACKING control is not set correctly. On-the-air TV programs • Connections arc not correctly made. cannot be seen. No operation by infrared • Weak batteries. Remote Control. Operation buttons do not work after there is a power failure or you move your VCR. • Channel Memory Programming is proceeded because programmed channels are erased. CORRECTIVE ACTION • Connect power cord to AC outlet. • Set the POWER button to on position. • Set the timer recording correctly. • Set TIMER REC to on position. • Set VCR clock correctly. • Place vinyl tape over missing safety tab. • On playback, set the TV to channel 3 or 4 for video output channel. • Fine tune your TV. • Head cleaning is necessary, consult the nearest Funai Authorized Service Center. • Press TV/VCR button. • Adjust TRACKING control for a better picture. • Re-check the ANT. IN and ANT. OUT connections. • Check the batteries in Infrared Remote Control. • See "Note" under "Channel Memory Programming" on page 14. - 29 - EN ***** 5A09
