A Analog audio output jacks Use these to output two channels of analog audio. Connect the XLR jacks or RCA jacks to a stereo amplifier or powered speakers. Use commercially-available cables. XLR: Balanced XLR cables RCA: RCA audio cables Connect the R jack of this unit to the right (R) jack of the amplifier and the L jack of this unit to the left (L) jack of the amplifier. B USB input port Connect to the USB port of a computer to input digital audio from it. Use a commercially-available USB cable. oo When using a Windows computer, you must install the dedicated driver on it before connecting it to this unit (see page 12). When using a Macintosh computer, you do not need to install a driver. C Output level switch (LEVEL) Set the audio level output from the analog audio output jacks. FIX: The maximum volume level is always output. Use this setting when you want to adjust the volume using a connected amplifier. Audio will be output from the analog audio output jacks even when headphones are connected. VARI: Output can be adjusted by the VOLUME knob on the front of the unit. Use this setting when you want to adjust the volume using this unit. Audio will not be output from the analog audio output jacks when headphones are connected. OFF: Audio is never output from the analog audio output jacks. oo Regardless of the LEVEL setting, the VOLUME knob on the front of the unit always adjusts the headphones output level. D Maintenance connector (UPDATE) This connector is only for maintenance use. Unless directed by our service department, do not connect anything to it. E Digital audio input connectors Input digital audio. Connect to the digital audio output connectors of digital audio output devices. COAXIAL: RCA digital coaxial cable OPTICAL: Optical digital cable (TOS) F Power cord connector Connect the supplied power cord to the power cord receptacle. After all other connections are complete, connect the power cord's plug to a wall outlet. VV Do not use any power cord other than the one included with this unit. Use of other power cords could result in fire or electric shock. Unplug the power cord when you are not going to use the unit for several weeks. 9
