36 Using the External DVD SuperMulti Drive Hot swapping You can connect and disconnect the external drive while the computer is running. To attach the external drive, just insert the USB cable into your computer's USB port. To avoid data loss, never remove or unplug the external drive while it is in use. To remove the USB cable while the computer is turned on: 1 Double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon for Windows XP, or double-click the Unplug or Eject Hardware icon for Windows 2000. 2 Click Stop, and then click OK. 3 After the message "The device can now be safely removed from the system" appears, you may remove the USB cable from your computer.

Hot swapping
