Power and Power-Up Modes 7. Pull the battery pack forward to remove it. For environmental reasons, do not throw away a spent battery pack. Please return spent battery pack to your TOSHIBA dealer. Installing the battery pack To install a battery pack, follow the steps below. The battery pack is a lithium ion battery, which can explode if not properly replaced, used, handled or disposed of. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Use only batteries recommended by TOSHIBA as replacements. 1. Be sure the computer's power is off and all cables are disconnected. 2. Insert the battery pack. Installing the battery pack 3. Push the battery pack until it is firmly seated. Battery pack Starting the computer by password To start up the computer with the user password, follow these steps: 1. Turn on the power as described in Chapter 3, Getting Started. The following message appears: Password = At this point, the hotkeys Fn + F1 to F9 do not work. They will function after you enter the password. 2. Enter the password. 3. Press Enter. If you enter the password incorrectly three times in a row, the computer shuts off. In this case, you must turn the computer back on to retry password entry. User's Manual 6-12
