Learning the Basics Using the DVD-ROM or DVD-ROM/CD-RW multifunction drive 91 2 Pull the tray fully open, remove the disc and place it in its protective cover. 3 Close the disc tray by pressing gently on the center of the tray until it clicks indicating that it is locked. Caring for CDs and DVDs Store your discs in their original containers to protect them from scratches and keep them clean. Never bend a disc or place heavy objects on top of it. Hold a disc by its outside edge. Fingerprints on the surface of a disc can prevent the drive from reading the data properly. Avoid exposing discs to direct sunlight or extreme heat or cold. To clean a disc, wipe it from the center outwards (not in a circle) with a clean, dry cloth. If necessary, moisten the cloth with water or a neutral cleaner (not benzine or rubbing alcohol). Let the disc dry completely before inserting it in the drive.
