Optimizing the speaker setting for your listening room This unit employs the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer) technology which lets you avoid troublesome listening-based speaker setup and achieves highly accurate sound adjustments automatically. The supplied optimizer microphone collects and this unit analyzes the sound your speakers produce in your actual listening environment. In addition, the multi-point measurement feature enables you to optimize the setup of this unit for up to eight listening positions. Before starting the automatic "MIC ON View OSD MENU" appears in the front panel display and the "AUTO SETUP" screen setup appears on the video monitor. AUTO SETUP 1 Make sure of the following check points before starting the automatic setup operations. ❏ Speakers are connected appropriately. ❏ Headphones are disconnected from this unit. ❏ This unit is turned on. ❏ The connected subwoofer is turned on and the volume level is set to about half way (or slightly less). ❏ The crossover frequency controls of the connected subwoofer is set to the maximum. To optimize the setup of this unit for one listening position, follow "Basic automatic setup" (page 30). To optimize the setup of this unit for multiple listening positions, follow "Advanced automatic setup" (page 33). Basic automatic setup If you have done all the preparations necessary, follow the procedure below to optimize the setup of this unit for one listening position. • Be advised that it is normal for loud test tones to be output during the automatic setup procedure. • To achieve the best results, make sure the room is as quiet as possible while the automatic setup procedure is in progress. If there is too much ambient noise, the results may not be satisfactory. 1 Place the optimizer microphone at your normal listening position on a flat level surface with the omni-directional microphone heading upward. Optimizer microphone 2 Connect the supplied optimizer microphone to the OPTIMIZER MIC jack on the front panel. environment. In addition, the multi-point measurement feature enables you to optimize the setup of this unit for up to

Make sure of the following check points
before starting the automatic setup
operations.
Speakers are connected appropriately.
Headphones are disconnected from this unit.
This unit is turned on.
The connected subwoofer is turned on and the
volume level is set to about half way (or slightly

Connect the supplied optimizer microphone
