96 MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE use of special dyes to aid in detecting fluid leaks. In addition, avoid using transmission sealers as they may adversely affect seals. Transfer Case (All Wheel Drive) Inspect the transfer case for fluid leaks. If a fluid leak is evident the transfer case fluid level may be low. Have the transfer case serviced immediately. Axles Drain And Refill Refer to "Maintenance Schedules" in Section 7 of this supplement for the proper maintenance intervals. Lubricant Selection Refer to "Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine Parts" in this section for the correct fluid type. NOTE: The presence of water in the gear lubricant will result in corrosion and possible failure of differential components. Operation of the vehicle in water, as may be encountered in some off-highway types of service, will require draining and refilling the axle to avoid damage. Rear Axle Rear Axle fluid level should be 1 1/8 in (28 mm) +/1/8 in (3 mm) below the fill hole. The total lubricant volume is 64 oz (1.9 L). CAUTION!
