Torque Lock Theparkingbrakeshouldbesetfirstwheneverleavingthedriver'sseat. If youareparkedonahillandthetransmissionisplacedin P (Park)before theparkingbrakeisset,theweightofthevehiclemayputtoomuchforce ontheparkingpawl in thetransmission.Itmaybedifficulttopulltheselector leverout of P (Park).Thisiscalled"torquelock." To preventthis,theparking brakeshouldbeset BEFORE movingtheselectorleverto P (Park). Whenpreparingtomovethevehicle,theselectorlevershouldbemovedout of P (Park) BEFORE releasingtheparkingbrake.Settheparkingbrakefirst, thenreleasethetransmissionfrom P (Park),evenonlevelsurfaces.
