Key Release Lever To Remove the Key Turn the keyto the LOCK position while pressing the key release lever on down at the same time. Keeping your finger the lever, pull the key straight out. On automatic transmission vehicles, turn the to LOCK and pull it key straight out. Starting Your Engine Engines start differently. The digit of your Vehicle Identification 8th Number (VIN) shows the code letter number for your engine.You will or of find the VTN at the top left your instrument panel.(See "Vehicle Identification Number" in the Tndex.) Follow the proper stepsto start the engine. Automatic transmission: Move your shift lever to (Park) or "N" (Neutral). "P" Your engine won't start in any other position- that's a safety feature.To restart when you're already moving, use "N" (Neutral) only. NOTICE: Donst try to shift "P" (Park) if your vehicle is moving. If you to do, you could damage the transmission. Shift to (Park) only "P" when your vehicleis stopped. Hold the clutch pedal the floor, then shift yourgear selector to neutral to while starting the engine.
