Shifting Into PARK (P) 7 I Steering Column Shift Lever 1. Hold the brake pedal down with your right foot and set the parking brake. 2. To be sure your when you're on fairly level ground, use the steps that follow. If you have four-wheel drive and is your transfer case in NEUTRAL (N), your vehicle will be free to roll, even if your shift lever is in PARK (P).
