New Vehicle "Break-In" Ignition Positions Use your key to start your vehicle. The key lets you turn the ignition switch to five different positions. NOTICE: Your modern vehicle doesn't need an elaborate "break-in." But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines: Keep your speed at mph (88 k m h ) o r 55 less for the first 500 miles (805 km).
