PARKING BRAKE CRUISE CONTROL (if so equipped) WARNING ¼ Be sure the parking brake is fully released before driving. Failure to do so can cause brake failure and lead to an accident. ¼ Do not release the parking brake from outside the vehicle. ¼ Do not use the gear shift in place of the parking brake. When parking, be sure the parking brake is fully engaged. ¼ Do not leave children unattended in a vehicle. They could release the parking brake and cause an accident. WARNING Do not use the cruise control when driving under the following conditions: ¼ it is not possible to keep the vehicle at a set speed. ¼ in heavy traffic or in traffic that varies in speed. ¼ on winding or hilly roads. ¼ on slippery roads (rain, snow, ice, etc.). ¼ in very windy areas. Doing so could cause a loss of vehicle control and result in an accident. SPA1286B To apply: Fully depress the parking brake pedal. To release: 1. Firmly apply the foot brake. 2. Depress the parking brake pedal and the parking brake will be released. 3. Before driving, be sure the brake warning light goes out. PRECAUTIONS ON CRUISE CONTROL ¼ If the cruise control system malfunctions, it cancels automatically. The SET indicator light on the meter panel then blinks to warn the driver. ¼ If the SET indicator light blinks, turn the cruise control main switch off and have the system checked by your NISSAN dealer. 5-14 Starting and driving
