This is effective when the contrast is too strong between the subject and background or when a subject is backlit. 1 Confirm that the flash is lowered. • is displayed. 2 Aim the camera at the subject on which you wish to lock the exposure. 3 Press the shutter button halfway and press the button. • The exposure setting will lock and will display. 4 Re-aim the camera to compose the shot as desired and shoot. To Release the AE Lock: Operate a button other than the control dial. z In movie mode, AE lock can also be set/canceled (p. 92). z You can use the FE lock when using the flash.
