68 Using the Digital Zoom/ Digital Tele-Converter Available Shooting Modes p. 300 You can combine digital zoom with optical zoom when shooting. The available shooting characteristics and focal lengths (35mm film equivalent) are as follows. The options available for selection vary depending on the aspect ratio setting (p. 80). Selection Focal Length Shooting Characteristics (Aspect ratio 4:3) Equivalent to 28 - 2240 mm Standard (Aspect ratio 16:9) Equivalent to 29 - 2320 mm Enables shooting at zoom factors of up to 80x with digital and optical zoom combined. (Aspect ratio 4:3) Equivalent to 28 - 560 mm Enables shooting without digital zoom. Off (Aspect ratio 16:9) Equivalent to 29 - 580 mm 2.3x (Aspect ratio 4:3) Digital zoom is fixed at the Equivalent to selected zoom factor, and 64.4 - 1288 mm the focal length shifts to maximum telephoto. 2.0x (Aspect ratio 16:9) Equivalent to 58 - 1160 mm This enables a faster shutter speed and less chance of camera shake than a shot taken at the same angle of view with [Standard] or [Off].
