AGP Accelerated Graphics Port Slot

Page 21 highlights

Chapter 1 Motherboard Description 1.5.1 AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) Slot Unlike the mouse ports, keyboard ports and printer ports this motherboard does not have built in video facilities and therefore requires a video card for one of the expansion slots. Your monitor will attach directly to that video card. This motherboard supports video cards for PCI and ISA slots but is also equipped with an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP PRO). An AGP card will take advantage of AGP technology for improved video efficiency and performance, especially with 3D graphics. An AGP compatible card will fit into the AGP (AGP PRO) slot provided by the motherboard. 1.5.2 AMR (Audio Modem Riser) Slot The AMR specification is an open Industry Standard Architecture and that defines a hardware scalable riser card interface, which supports audio and modem only. 1.5.3 ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) Slot The motherboard is equipped with one standard ISA slot. ISA stands for Industry Standard Architecture and was designed as a bus standard for expansion cards in the early 90's for PC XT/AT machines. This motherboard retains backward compatibility with this older and slower bus architecture. 1.5.4 PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) Slots This motherboard is equipped with 5 standard PCI slots. PCI stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect and is a bus standard for expansion cards, which has, for the most part, supplanted the older ISA bus standard. This PCI slot is designated as 32 bit. 1-16

Chapter 1
Motherboard Description
1-16
1.5.1 AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) Slot
Unlike the mouse ports, keyboard ports and printer ports this
motherboard does not have built in video facilities and therefore requires
a video card for one of the expansion slots. Your monitor will attach
directly to that video card. This motherboard supports video cards for
PCI and ISA slots but is also equipped with an Accelerated Graphics Port
(AGP PRO). An AGP card will take advantage of AGP technology for
improved video efficiency and performance, especially with 3D graphics.
An AGP compatible card will fit into the AGP (AGP PRO) slot provided
by the motherboard.
1.5.2 AMR (Audio Modem Riser) Slot
The AMR specification is an open Industry Standard Architecture and that
defines a hardware scalable riser card interface, which supports audio and
modem only.
1.5.3 ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) Slot
The motherboard is equipped with one standard ISA slot.
ISA stands for
Industry Standard Architecture and was designed as a bus standard for
expansion cards in the early 90’s for PC XT/AT machines. This
motherboard retains backward compatibility with this older and slower
bus architecture.
1.5.4 PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect)
Slots
This motherboard is equipped with 5 standard PCI slots. PCI stands for
Peripheral Component Interconnect and is a bus standard for expansion
cards, which has, for the most part, supplanted the older ISA bus standard.
This PCI slot is designated as 32 bit.
