Shooting - The Basics 5 Press the shutter button halfway. z The shutter button has a two-stage action. Pressing Halfway Pressing halfway automatically sets the exposure and focus. • Two beeps will sound when the camera has finished metering, and the indicator next to the viewfinder will light green or orange. If the LCD monitor is on, the AF frame will appear green. • The indicator next to the viewfinder will blink yellow and the beep will sound one time if the subject is difficult to focus on. 6 Press the shutter button all the way. Do not move the camera until you hear this sound. • The indicator next to the viewfinder blinks green while data is recorded onto the CF card. • The picture appears for two seconds on the LCD monitor, if it is on. z See page 151 for settings that can be changed in this mode. z With the Review function, you can change the length of time images show on the LCD monitor after shooting, or set it so they do not show at all (p. 36). z If the orange or yellow indicator blinks while you press halfway, you can still press fully to take the shot. z Images are first saved into the camera's internal memory before being recorded onto the CF card, allowing the next images to be taken immediately as long as sufficient space is available in the internal memory. z The beep and shutter sound can be set On/Off in the Set up menu (p. 69).
