RTC battery Removal and replacement procedures Description RTC battery (includes cable and double-sided tape) Spare part number 531829-001 Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 7). 5. Remove the wireless module compartment cover (see "WLAN module" on page 12). Remove the RTC battery: 1. Disconnect the RTC battery cable 1 from the system board. 2. Detach the RTC battery 2 from the base enclosure and release the RTC battery as far as the RTC battery cable allows. (The RTC battery is attached to the base enclosure with double-sided tape.) 3. Remove the RTC battery. Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery. 4-19

RTC battery
Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 7
).
5. Remove the wireless module compartment cover (see
“WLAN module” on page 12
).
Remove the RTC battery:
1. Disconnect the RTC battery cable

from the system board.
2. Detach the RTC battery
2
from the base enclosure and release the RTC battery as far as the RTC battery cable
allows. (The RTC battery is attached to the base enclosure with double-sided tape.)
3. Remove the RTC battery.
Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery.
