Changing The Filter 27 LOCATING THE FILTERS Your refrigerator is equipped with separate water and air filtering systems. The water filter system filters all dispensed drinking water, as well as the water used to produce ice. The air filter removes odors and impurities from the refrigerator compartment. Water Filter The water filter is located at the top of the fresh food compartment, next to the electronic control system panel. See the earlier section in this manual for more information about when to replace the filter. Air Filter The air filter is located inside the refrigerator compartment at the top rear corner. See the earlier section in this manual for more information about when to replace the filter. REPLACING THE AIR FILTER In general, you should change the air filter every six months to ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odors. You may want to adjust this time period depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store in your refrigerator. To replace your air filter: 1 Push the plastic bubble tab located on the side of the air filter housing. The hinged bottom half drops open. 2 Remove the old filter and discard it. 3 Unpackage the new filter and place it inside the hinged bottom half of the housing. 4 Push the hinged bottom half upward until the tab snaps. 5 Press and hold the Filter Reset button on the electronic control panel for 3 seconds. When the Filter OK light comes on, the status has been reset. 6 Press and hold the Filter Reset button for 3 seconds again to turn off the filter status system. NOTE The electronic control panel, located at the top of the refrigerator compartment, includes controls to monitor the status of your air filter. See the previous section for more information about these controls.
