(Illus. 6) 6 Care and Cleaning TO CLEAN INSIDE OF COFFEEMAKER: To prolong the life of your coffeemaker, monthly cleaning is recommended. In areas with hard water, more frequent cleaning is necessary. 1. Pour 1⁄2 cup of plain white vinegar and 1⁄2 cup of cold water into reservoir. Place cup on cup rest under brew basket. A commercial coffee cleaner, such as CleanCaf™, may also be used according to package directions. 2. Press START button once. After 30 seconds, turn OFF. 3. Wait 30 minutes to allow vinegar to clean. Then turn ON again. When brew cycle is finished, wait for unit to cool. 4. Empty cup and rinse. Pour one cup of cold tap water into reservoir. Place cup under brew basket. 5. Press START button. When brew cycle is finished, empty cup. Repeat this process with one more cup of cold tap water. 6. If necessary, repeat Step 5 to remove any remaining vinegar taste. 7. Wash cup and brew basket before making a beverage. TO CLEAN OUTSIDE OF COFFEEMAKER: 1. Unplug coffeemaker and allow to cool before cleaning. 2. Occasionally wipe water spreader area, above brew basket, with a clean, damp cloth to remove oils and residues from coffee. 3. Permanent brew basket may be washed in dishwasher. Discard disposable brew baskets after each use. 4. To clean all other outside surfaces of coffeemaker, use a clean, damp cloth. 7
