HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring Issue: Updating StorageWorks Storage Mirroring application credentials fails Description This behavior occurs when the storage server's domain membership is changed and the SWSM replication credentials for a new user do not match a user that is also a member of the local Double Take Admins group. Workaround Update the SWSM replication credentials using the user name and password of a member of the local Double Take Admins group. Issue: Replication fails on the replication target Description This behavior occurs when replication target paths contain non-ASCII characters. If StorageWorks Storage Mirroring is used to replicate application data, only ASCII characters should be used to name Exchange storage groups and stores or SQL server databases and log files. If non-ASCII characters are used in naming these application elements, configuring replication will fail. If application data has already been migrated, follow this workaround to ensure that the replication configuration succeeds: 1. Rename the application element (for example, Exchange storage group and stores or SQL databases and log files) using printable ASCII characters . 2. Reboot the application server if needed. 3. For each application area in ASM, right-click the area and select Remove from view. 4. Verify that the renamed application elements are correctly discovered in ASM. If replication was configured in ASM and the replication task hangs, follow this procedure to clean up the failed replication job: Workaround In addition, you must remove the iSCSI VHD files that were created on the replication target. iSCSI VHD files are typically located in C:\Data Volumes\Data Volume\Data Protection\Replication\ 1. Restart the HP All-in-One Storage Manager service on the storage server. 2. Open the SWSM management console and remove the replication set that was created as part of the failed job. 3. Remove the iSCSI .vhd files that were created on the replication target. These .vhd files are typically located in C:\Data Volumes\Data Volume\Data Protection\Replication\\\\. You will not be able to remove the .vhd files until you remove the devices in Microsoft iSCSI Software Target MMC (available in Administrative Tools). 4. On the replication target system, open ASM and select Remove from view for each of the affected replication target areas. Issue: StorageWorks Storage Mirroring license is not valid Description After initially installing the evaluation version of StorageWorks Storage Mirroring and providing the evaluation activation key, subsequent installations of SWSM will indicate that the evaluation license is no longer valid. StorageWorks Storage Mirroring only allows one evaluation period. Attempting to Workaround use the evaluation activation key more than once will fail. If a longer evaluation period is needed, please contact your reseller or HP customer support. HP StorageWorks Storage Mirroring
Issue:
Updating StorageWorks Storage Mirroring application credentials fails
Description
This behavior occurs when the storage server’s domain membership is changed
and the SWSM replication credentials for a new user do not match a user that is
also a member of the local Double Take Admins group.
Workaround
Update the SWSM replication credentials using the user name and password of
a member of the local Double Take Admins group.
Issue:
Replication fails on the replication target
Description
This behavior occurs when replication target paths contain non-ASCII characters. If
StorageWorks Storage Mirroring is used to replicate application data, only ASCII
characters should be used to name Exchange storage groups and stores or SQL
server databases and log
les. If non-ASCII characters are used in naming these
application elements, con
guring replication will fail.
Workaround
If application data has already been migrated, follow this workaround to ensure
that the replication con
guration succeeds:
1.
Rename the application element (for example, Exchange storage group and
stores or SQL databases and log
les) using printable ASCII characters .
2.
Reboot the application server if needed.
3.
For each application area in ASM, right-click the area and select
Remove
from view
.
4.
Verify that the renamed application elements are correctly discovered in ASM.
If replication was con
gured in ASM and the replication task hangs, follow this
procedure to clean up the failed replication job:
In addition, you must remove the iSCSI VHD
les that were created on the
replication target. iSCSI VHD
les are typically located in C:\Data Volumes\Data
Volume<#>\Data Protection\Replication\
1.
Restart the HP All-in-One Storage Manager service on the storage server.
2.
Open the SWSM management console and remove the replication set that
was created as part of the failed job.
3.
Remove the iSCSI .vhd
les that were created on the replication target.
These .vhd
les are typically located in C:\Data Volumes\Data
Volume<#>\Data Protection\Replication\<source server name>\<source
instance name>\<source area name>\. You will not be able to remove the
.vhd
les until you remove the devices in Microsoft iSCSI Software Target
MMC (available in Administrative Tools).
4.
On the replication target system, open ASM and select
Remove from view
for
each of the affected replication target areas.
Issue:
StorageWorks Storage Mirroring license is not valid
Description
After initially installing the evaluation version of StorageWorks Storage Mirroring
and providing the evaluation activation key, subsequent installations of SWSM will
indicate that the evaluation license is no longer valid.
Workaround
StorageWorks Storage Mirroring only allows one evaluation period. Attempting to
use the evaluation activation key more than once will fail. If a longer evaluation
period is needed, please contact your reseller or HP customer support.
