VPARCREATE • Command: vparcreate [-p vparidentstr] [-a rsrc]... [-Z parspecname] [-N nparidentstr] [-P vp_name] • Description: Creates a new virtual partition using the specified hardware resources. If a virtual partition number is not specified, the command finds an available virtual partition number and assigns it to the new virtual partition. Likewise, if a virtual partition name is not specified, a default name of the format vParNNNN is given to the new virtual partition. The options for the command: Option -p vparidentstr -a rsrc -Z parspecname -N nparidentstr Meaning Specifies the virtual partition to be created in ASCII format either as a name or number. The vparidentstr can also be specified in the format nparidentstr:vparidentstr. When specified in the format of nparidentstr:vparidentstr, nparidentstr and vparidentstr can either be a name or number. When specified from the OA, the vPar should be identified using the format nparidentstr:vparidentstr or used along with the -N option. A partition name should at least have one of the following non-numeric characters: ◦ a-z ◦ A-Z ◦ - (dash) ◦ _ (underscore) ◦ . (period) If a -p option is not specified, a vPar number is automatically assigned to the created virtual partition. If both and -p and -P are not specified, a vPar name in the format is automatically assigned to the created virtual partition. NOTE: The name for the vPar should be specified either using -p or -P . Attempts to specify the vPar name using both options in the same command line will be considered invalid. Specifies resources to be added to the virtual partition. Specifies the parspec of the nPar in which the vPar will be created. When this option is specified all other command options are applied to the specified parspec and not to the nPartition itself. The -n and -z options are mutually exclusive. NOTE: When the command is invoked from the OA with -z option, there is no need of a -n option, since the operation is being applied to a vPar in the parspec and not to an existing nPar. Specifies the nPar to which the vPar belongs to in ASCII format either as a name or number. This option is mandatory for a command invoked from OA which that not specify -z. For commands invoked from the partition, behavior is to create the vPar in that nPar, if VPARCREATE 145

VPARCREATE
Command:
vparcreate [-p vparidentstr]
[-a rsrc]... [-Z parspecname] [-N nparidentstr] [-P vp_name]
Description:
Creates a new virtual partition using the specified hardware resources. If a virtual partition
number is not specified, the command finds an available virtual partition number and assigns
it to the new virtual partition. Likewise, if a virtual partition name is not specified, a default
name of the format vParNNNN is given to the new virtual partition.
The options for the command:
Meaning
Option
Specifies the virtual partition to be created in ASCII
format either as a name or number. The
vparidentstr
-p vparidentstr
can also be specified in the format
nparidentstr:vparidentstr
. When specified in
the format of
nparidentstr:vparidentstr
,
nparidentstr and vparidentstr can either be a name or
number. When specified from the OA, the vPar should
be identified using the format
nparidentstr:vparidentstr
or used along with
the
N
option. A partition name should at least have
one of the following non-numeric characters:
a-z
A-Z
- (dash)
_ (underscore)
. (period)
If a
-p
<number>
option is not specified, a vPar
number is automatically assigned to the created virtual
partition. If both and
p
<name>
and
P
are not
specified, a vPar name in the format <vPar.vPar_num>
is automatically assigned to the created virtual partition.
NOTE:
The name for the vPar should be specified
either using
p
<name>
or
P
. Attempts to specify the
vPar name using both options in the same command
line will be considered invalid.
Specifies resources to be added to the virtual partition.
-a rsrc
Specifies the parspec of the nPar in which the vPar will
be created. When this option is specified all other
-Z parspecname
command options are applied to the specified parspec
and not to the nPartition itself. The
n
and
z
options
are mutually exclusive.
NOTE:
When the command is invoked from the OA
with
z
option, there is no need of a
n
option, since
the operation is being applied to a vPar in the parspec
and not to an existing nPar.
Specifies the nPar to which the vPar belongs to in ASCII
format either as a name or number. This option is
-N nparidentstr
mandatory for a command invoked from OA which that
not specify
z
. For commands invoked from the
partition, behavior is to create the vPar in that nPar, if
