Keyboard For a list of keyboards available for your country or region and their spare part numbers, see Computer major components. Before removing the keyboard: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first disconnecting the power cord from the AC outlet and then disconnecting the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the following components: a. Battery on page 43 b. Hard drive cover on page 44 c. Hard drive on page 45 d. Optical drive on page 52 To remove the keyboard: 1. Position the computer upside down with the front toward you. 2. Remove the following screws (1): ● Two screws that are under the hard drive cover ● Three screws that are inside the battery bay 3. Slide the keyboard release switch (2) in the battery bay to the right. ENWW Component replacement procedures 53
