LSAN zoning considerations, Workarounds

Page 15 highlights

The following configurations will fail the spinsilk test; use the minicycle test instead: • Mixed SAN Director 2/128 Director (with either CP4 or FC4-16 blades) • Pure 4/256 SAN Director, option 1 "Pure 4/256 SAN Director" refers to a Director with CP4 and FC4-16 blades only. LSAN zoning considerations If a switch running Fabric OS 5.2.x is connected to the edge of a fabric with LSAN zones configured, any switch in that edge fabric running a Fabric OS release prior to 5.2.x will not be able to commit to any zoning transactions. If a fabric contains switches running, for example, Fabric OS 4.4.0, 5.1.1 and 5.2.1b and LSAN zones are configured, all zone changes need to originate from the switch running the latest Fabric OS release (in this case 5.2.1b). This action is required whether or not the Access Domain feature is enabled. Workarounds Table 3 lists important information and workarounds. Issue
Workaround
Not all Fabric OS services are available
when the prompt becomes available during
boot up.
Wait for all the services to come up before
using the switch or performing zoning
actions.
FW_FRU_INSERTED message displays twice
when a power supply FRU is inserted and
powered on.
No functional impact.
Scalability: MS Platform Database not
supported in large fabrics.
In large fabrics with more than 1,000
ports, it is recommended that the MS
Platform Database is disabled, it is also
required that the Platform DB be disabled
before downgrading to previous versions
of Fabric OS. This can be done using the
msPLMgmtDeactivate
command.
If the user tries to save move than
512 monitors using the
perfCfgSave
command, some of the monitors may be lost.
Do not issue the
perfCfgSave
command
when running more than 512 monitors.
Scalability: When the
cfgDisable
command is executed, access is enabled
between all devices. This can cause issues
with some HBAs.
Enable default zoning using the
defzone
--noaccess
command.
