Page 50 highlights

HP Easy Config The HP Easy Config Utility allows an administrator to quickly configure the thin client into a Citrix Xen Desktop Appliance, a VMware View appliance, or a Web appliance. This application greatly simplifies the task for the administrator when setting up the thin client for these appliance mode. After selecting one of the configurations, the HP Easy Config Utility will prompt the administrator for a server address and an optional proxy server address. Once HP Easy Config has gathered the necessary information, it automates the configuration of the thin client operating system software as follows: ● Enables a second user called 'User' with limited access to the control panel. The Administrator account remains with full access. ● Sets up the 'User' account as the default autologin account instead of the Administrator account. ● Configures the unit for Kiosk mode. Kiosk mode is a locked-down mode of the operating system software so that the desktop and taskbar are not accessible and the one application that gets launched will be persistent if it ever closes. ● Configures the unit to automatically launch the correct program depending on the configuration selected with the settings supplied. Once all of the settings are configured, HP Easy Config asks the administrator to reboot. Since automatic login is now enabled, the unit automatically logs in to the User account and launches the desired configuration. To further change settings in the HP Easy Config Utility, you must log into the Administrator account. ▲ Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and then hold the Shift key and click Logoff to get the login prompt. NOTE: Improve system security by changing the Administrator account password. An administrator can change passwords by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the Windows Security dialog box, and then select Change Password. 42 Chapter 5 Control Panel Extended Selections ENWW
