CAUTION NOTE CAUTION Changing Your Computer's Hardware Configuration The instructions in this chapter assume you are using the HP-UX 10.20 or 11.0 operating system and the HP CDE interface. When installing internal devices, always wear a properly grounded wrist strap to avoid damaging components with electrostatic discharge (static electricity). Use the following tools to remove or replace hardware parts when changing your configuration: • Light-duty flat blade screwdriver with a 150mm (6-inch) blade • Number 1 Posidriv driver • T10, T15 and T20 Torx drivers • Needle-nosed pliers Also, read the ESD Precautions elsewhere in this guide. Many of the HP-UX commands in this chapter will require that you become superuser (root). If you cannot log in as root, contact your system administrator. To make access to the internal components easier, you may want to place the computer on a table or workbench instead of leaving it on the floor. This computer is designated for two-man lifting; it weighs approximately 90 pounds. Do not attempt to lift it by yourself, or injury may result. 40 Chapter 2
