5. TROUBLESHOOTING If a minor problem occurs, it usually can be solved quite easily when the cause is found by using the checklist below. Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative. ! WARNING ! To reduce risk of personal injury - unplug vacuum before servicing. PROBLEM Cleaner won't run POSSIBLE REASON 1. Not firmly plugged in POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1. Plug unit in firmly 2. No voltage in wall receptacle 3. Blown fuse or tripped breaker 4. Thermal protector activated Cleaner/ tools won't pick up 1. Broken or worn belt 2. Agitator brushroll worn 3. Filter bag full 4. Incorrect carpet height setting 5. Blockage in air flow passage Cleaner hard to push 1. Incorrect carpet height setting Smoky/burning smell detected 1. Belt broken or stretched 2. Check fuse or breaker 3. Replace fuse or reset breaker 4. Allow cleaner to cool for 30 minutes (this will reset the thermal protector) 1. Replace belt 2. Replace brushroll 3. Change filter bag 4. Move nozzle control knob to lower setting 5. Clear blockage 1. Move carpet height control to a higher setting 1. Replace agitator brushroll belt as described in Figs. 3-10 through 3-15 in the Maintenance section. 6.
