2 2.1.6 Security Functions 2.1 Quick Security Setting This section explains the settings to be made in Quick Security Setting. Quick IP Filtering: Restricting Access to the Machine By using the Quick IP Filtering function, you can limit devices to be allowed access to the machine based on the IP address (IPv4/IPv6). Following options are provided. Select one of the following options on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [Quick IP Filtering]: [No Filtering] IP Filtering is disabled and the machine allows access from all IP addresses. [Sync. IP Address] When IPv4 addresses are used, only the devices with the same IP address as the machine except for the last digit are allowed access. When IPv6 addresses are used, only the devices that share the same upper 64 bits of the IP address with the machine are allowed access. [Sync. Subnet Mask] Limit the range of IP addresses to be allowed access by using the IP address, subnet mask, or prefix specified for the machine. Administrator Password: Changing Administrator Password and Turning Administrator Authentication from OFF to ON After pressing [Set Now] on the Security Setting Warning Screen, you can set a new password in [Administrator Password]. The administrator password must be exactly 8 alphanumeric characters. If you set an administrator password for the machine on which the administrator authentication function is set to OFF, that function is automatically turned ON. NOTICE If [Display] is selected for Security Warning Display with the condition that the default administrator password is kept unchanged, the Security Setting Warning Screen is displayed even when the administrator authentication function is ON. In such a case, the administrator should immediately change the default password to a new one. NOTICE If you set a password that is not compliant with the password rules and try to select [Enable] in [Password Rules Setting], a dialog is displayed to prompt you to change the password, and you must change the password before selecting [Enable]. Similarly, if you try to enter a password that is not compliant with the password rules while [Password Rules Setting] is set to [Enable], the entry is rejected. NOTICE Be sure not to forget the password. If you forget it, contact your service representative. Password Rules Setting: Selecting Whether or Not to Enable Password Rules Select either [Enable] or [Disable] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [Password Rules Setting]. Selecting [Enable] sets the machine to accept passwords specified more strictly than usual according to the password rules as described below, so that only the passwords that comply with the password rules should be configured on the machine. Quick Security Setting
This section explains the settings to be made in Quick Security Setting.
Quick IP Filtering: Restricting Access to the Machine
By using the Quick IP Filtering function, you can limit devices to be allowed access to the machine based on
the IP address (IPv4/IPv6). Following options are provided.
Select one of the following options on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [Quick IP Filtering]:
[No Filtering]
IP Filtering is disabled and the machine allows access from all IP addresses.
[Sync. IP Address]
When IPv4 addresses are used, only the devices with the same IP address as the machine except for the last
digit are allowed access. When IPv6 addresses are used, only the devices that share the same upper 64 bits
of the IP address with the machine are allowed access.
[Sync. Subnet Mask]
Limit the range of IP addresses to be allowed access by using the IP address, subnet mask, or prefix speci-
fied for the machine.

NOTICE
If [Display] is selected for Security Warning Display with the condition that the default administrator password
is kept unchanged, the Security Setting Warning Screen is displayed even when the administrator authenti-
cation function is ON. In such a case, the administrator should immediately change the default password to
a new one.
NOTICE
If you set a password that is not compliant with the password rules and try to select [Enable] in [Password
