2.1 Security Functions 2 Password Rules The number of one-byte characters for a password is limited (8 characters or more). Any password becomes unavailable to be set with less than 8 characters, even though having been accepted with less than 8 characters. In addition, passwords that consist only of the same character are not allowed (example: aaaaaaaa). The following passwords are subject to the password rules: Administrator password User password Account password HDD Store/Folder password Password to be set for a hold job (Secure Print) or for an HDD Store job Password to be set in Scan Setting/registering a user box Various passwords in SNMP Setting Alphabetical characters should be used in a case-sensitive manner. Only one-byte symbols can be used. Previously used passwords cannot be used. Web Utilities Setting: Selecting Whether or Not to Use Web Utilities Select either [ON] or [OFF] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [WebUtilities Setting]. You can specify whether or not to use the Web Utilities function. The Web Utilities function should be turned OFF for security purpose unless it can be securely managed. You can specify whether or not to use the PageScope Web Connection function. The PageScope Web Connection function should be turned OFF for security purpose unless it can be securely managed. Security Warning Display: Selecting Whether or Not to Display the Security Warning Select either [Display] or [Not Display] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [Security Warning Display]. Select either [ON] or [OFF] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [WebUtilities Setting].
You can specify whether or not to use the Web Utilities function.
The Web Utilities function should be turned OFF for security purpose unless it can be securely managed.
PSWC Setting: Selecting Whether or Not to Use PageScope Web Connection
Select either [ON] or [OFF] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [PSWC Setting].
You can specify whether or not to use the PageScope Web Connection function.
The PageScope Web Connection function should be turned OFF for security purpose unless it can be se-
curely managed.
Security Warning Display: Selecting Whether or Not to Display the Security
Warning
Select either [Display] or [Not Display] on the screen accessed from [Quick Security Setting] - [Security Warn-
ing Display].
Selecting [Display] displays the Security Setting Warning Screen when the machine is in the following condi-
tions:
