10 minutes Host Timer/Timeout Values and Actions: A printer IPDS Timeout value, should only be used if the host timer/timeout value is set to infinite or a large value that prevents the host from disconnecting and subsequently prevents the printer from printing jobs from other ports. Important: The host timer/timeout value and the printer IPDS Timeout value must not be set to the same number of seconds. The difference in these values should always be 30 or more seconds in order to avoid communication errors. IPDS resources from the last active session are temporarily stored in the printer memory when printer IPDS Timeout values ("15 seconds" to "10 Minutes") are selected and the host timer/timeout values are set to a large value or disabled. Operator actions and processing of other jobs may cause the resources to be deleted. Events such as the following will cause deletion of the downloaded resources. • The host ends the IPDS session. • TCP/IP communications is interrupted for the IPDS session. • Another IPDS session is started on either port 5001 or 9600. • IPDS MENU option values are changed. • Printing IPDS Resource List from IPDS MENU. • Processing of a non-IPDS job that requires more memory than is available in printer memory. • The printer is powered OFF. If the IPDS resources are deleted, the printer will return a Printer Reset exception to the host. The host will download the resources again with the next IPDS job. 3.3.17 Fax Interrupt On MFPs that can receive fax, this option controls when an incoming fax will be printed in relation to IPDS print jobs. Enabling this option will allow an incoming fax to be printed during an active IPDS session. On host systems that include IPDS job separation headers a fax will be printed between job boundaries, except if the host explicitly has defined "keep pages together" across job boundaries. For host systems that do not include IPDS job separation headers (typically older systems), the fax will be printed between any two pages that are not logically associated by either a duplex operation, a finishing group or a copy group. Disabling this option will prevent a fax to be printed during an active IPDS session. The fax will be printed when either the host terminates the IPDS session or the IPDS time out ends the session. See section 3.3.16 IPDS Timeout on page 27. Disable* Enable Prevent Fax printing during an active IPDS session Allow Fax printing during an IPDS session between valid Group Boundaries 28

Host Timer/Timeout
Values and Actions:
A printer IPDS Timeout value, should only be used if the
host timer/timeout
value is set to infinite or a large value that prevents the host from disconnecting
and subsequently prevents the printer from printing jobs from other ports.
Important:
The
host timer/timeout
value and the printer
IPDS Timeout
value
must not be set to the same number of seconds. The difference in these values
should always be 30 or more seconds in order to avoid communication errors.
IPDS resources from the last active session are temporarily stored in the printer memory when printer
IPDS Timeout
values (“15 seconds” to “10 Minutes”) are selected and the
host timer/timeout
values are
set to a large value or disabled. Operator actions and processing of other jobs may cause the resources to
be deleted. Events such as the following will cause deletion of the downloaded resources.
The host ends the IPDS session.
TCP/IP communications is interrupted for the IPDS session.
Another IPDS session is started on either port 5001 or 9600.
IPDS MENU
option values are changed.
Printing
IPDS Resource List
from
IPDS MENU.
Processing of a non-IPDS job that requires more memory than is available in printer memory.
The printer is powered
OFF
.
If the IPDS resources are deleted, the printer will return a
Printer Reset
exception to the host. The host
will download the resources again with the next IPDS job.
3.3.17 Fax Interrupt
On MFPs that can receive fax, this option controls when an incoming fax will be printed in relation to
IPDS print jobs.
Enabling this option will allow an incoming fax to be printed during an active IPDS session. On host
systems that include IPDS job separation headers a fax will be printed between job boundaries, except if
the host explicitly has defined “keep pages together” across job boundaries. For host systems that do not
include IPDS job separation headers (typically older systems), the fax will be printed between any two
pages that are not logically associated by either a duplex operation, a finishing group or a copy group.
Disabling this option will prevent a fax to be printed during an active IPDS session. The fax will be
printed when either the host terminates the IPDS session or the IPDS time out ends the session. See
section 3.3.16 IPDS Timeout on page 27.
