POWER SOURCE AC CONNECTION Unwind the AC cord and extend it to its full length. Insert the AC plug into any convenient 120V 60Hz household outlet. Please note that this unit is equipped with a AC Outlet polarized AC plug which has one blade wider than the other. This is a safety feature to reduce the likelihood of electric shock. This AC Plug polarized AC plug will only fit in a polarized AC outlet. If you find that you cannot insert this plug into your outlet, you may have an obsolete non-polarized outlet. Please do not try to defeat this safety feature by using a non-polarized adapter or by filing the wider blade to make it fit into your outlet. If this plug does not fit into your outlet, you should contact a qualified licensed electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. IMPORTANT NOTE: If there is a power failure or the AC cord is disconnected for a short period of time, the clock will stop, but the time and radio presets will be saved. When the power is resumed or the AC cord is connected again, the clock time will continue running and the radio presets will have been saved. However, if the power failure lasts or the AC cord is disconnected long enough for the battery to weaken too much, the clock will be reset and you will need to set the clock and radio presets again. INSERTING THE BATTERIES Two (2) "AA" size batteries can also be used to provide a backup for the clock, timer times, and the presets as follows: 1. Open the battery door on the bottom of the unit by pushing in on the tab, then removing the door. 2. Insert two (2) "AA" batteries as shown. Alkaline batteries are recommended for the longest playing time. 3. Place the battery door back on the compartment. NOTE: The batteries are used to back-up the clock, timer times, and presets when the AC cord is disconnected or there is a power failure. IMPORTANT! See BATTERY PRECAUTIONS on the next page. 9
