BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE WARNING Electric Shock or Personal Injury Hazard. Disconnect the electrical supply before performing maintenance to the vacuum cleaner. Failure to do so could result in electric shock or personal injury from vacuum cleaner suddenly starting. Review this chart to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any service needed, other than those described in these Operating Instructions, should be performed by an authorized service representative. PROBLEM Vacuum cleaner won't start. Poor job of dirt pick-up. Vacuum cleaner starts but shuts off. POSSIBLE CAUSE 1. Unplugged at wall outlet. 2. Tripped circuit breaker/blown fuse at household panel 1. Full or clogged dust cup. 2. Clogged airflow passages. 3. Dirty filters. 4. Suction control is open. 5. Hole in hose. 6. Dust cup installed incorrectly. 7. Dust cup lid and dust cup missembled 1. Tripped thermal protector in canister. Vacuum cleaner picks up moveable rugs -or- Power Nozzle pushes too hard. Cord won't rewind. Vacuum cleaner leaves marks on carpet. 1. Suction too strong. 1. Dirty power cord. 2. Cord jammed. 1. Wrong vacuuming pattern. POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1. Plug in firmly, move switch to FLOOR or CARPET position. 2. Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse. 1. Empty and clean dust cup. 2. Clear airflow passages. 3. Change filters. 4. Check both suction controls. 5. Replace hose. 6. See DUST CUP 7. See PRE-FILTER 1. Reset thermal protector. 1.
