Appendix B Glossary AHCI AHCI is an acronym for Advanced Host Controller Interface. It is a specification that allows software to communicate with Serial ATA devices. In other words it is a hardware mechanism describes the register-level interface for a Host Controller for Serial ATA. NCQ support is also provided by AHCI. ATA ATA Stands for Advanced Technology Attachment. It is a type of disk drive that integrates the drive controller directly on the drive itself. Boot Disk A boot disk is a DOS based bootable USB solution that contains DOS SSDFWD UTIL application and relevant files. AHCI
