Appendix B Glossary AHCI AHCI is an acronym for Advanced Host Controller Interface. It is a specification that allows software to communicate with Serial ATA devices. In other words it is a hardware mechanism describes the register-level interface for a Host Controller for Serial ATA. NCQ support is also provided by AHCI. ATA ATA Stands for Advanced Technology Attachment. It is a type of disk drive that integrates the drive controller directly on the drive itself. Boot Disk A boot disk is a DOS based bootable USB solution that contains DOS SSDFWD UTIL application and relevant files. Using relevant tools and procedures in windows environment, the boot USB can be created to launch DOS SSD-FWD UTIL application in DOS. © 2010 Samsung Electronics 15
