Adjusting the focus You can adjust the focus manually or automatically for different recording conditions. Adjusting the focus manually 1 During recording or standby, press the AF/MF button C to set the focus to manual. 9 appears. 2 Move the ZOOM/FOCUS B switch, and turn the manual lens ring A. • FOCUS: You can manually adjust the focus by turning the manual lens ring. • ZOOM: You can manually adjust the zoom by turning the manual lens ring. 9 changes to when the focus cannot be adjusted any farther, and changes to when the focus cannot be adjusted any closer. 30 Adjusting the focus automatically Press the AF/MF button C to set the focus to automatic. 9 disappears and automatic focus adjustment is restored. The camcorder uses phase detection AF for high-speed focusing and contrast AF for high-accuracy focusing. The combination of these two AF methods provides auto focus with both high speed and high accuracy. When phase detection AF is enabled, phase detection AF frames are displayed on the screen when [PHASE AF FRAMES] is set to [ON]. And the phase detection AF area is displayed on the screen when [PHASE DETECT. AF AREA] is set to [ON]. The position for focusing is indicated by white phase detection AF frames, and the frames turn green when the image is in focus. If set to [CENTER] or [FLEXIBLE SPOT] and phase detection AF is enabled, the focus area frame is displayed green to indicate the in-focus state. z Tips • The focal length information (the distance at which the subject is in focus; for when it is dark and hard to adjust the focus) appears for about 3 seconds in the following cases.
