Troubleshooting Drives, PC Cards, and Peripheral Devices My floppy disk drive icon doesn't appear even though it is connected.  Make sure the floppy disk drive is properly connected. Wait a few moments for the computer to recognize the drive.  Close all open applications, and make sure there is no disk in the floppy disk drive. Restart your computer with the connected floppy disk drive. Page 153
