Listening to the Radio 1 Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly to FM Mode select "FM" or "AM". < You can also select "FM" or "AM" by pressing the BAND button once or twice. 2 Select the station you want to listen to. Automatic tuning When the source is "FM", pressing the FM MODE button alternates between stereo mode and mono mode. Stereo "Stereo" appears on the display for a few seconds, and then it will turn to "ST". When a program is broadcast in stereo, you hear stereo sound. When in monaural, you hear monaural sound. < If the sound is distorted, the signal is not strong enough for good stereo reception. In this case, change to mono mode. Hold down Hold down the TUNING button and release it when the automatic tuning process starts. When a station is tuned in, the tuning process will stop automatically. Repeat this step until the station you want to listen to is found. < To stop the automatic tuning process, press the TUNING button briefly. Manual tuning Mono "Mono" appears on the display for a few seconds, and then it will turn to "MO". To compensate for weak FM stereo reception, select this mode. Reception will now be forced into monaural, reducing unwanted noise. If the reception is poor For the best reception, rotate the FM antenna or AM antenna until you get stations clearly (pages 6 - 7 E , F ). Press the TUNING button repeatedly. The frequency changes by a fixed step. Press repeatedly until the station you want to listen to is found. 24

Automatic tuning
Hold down

FM Mode
When the source is “FM”,
pressing the FM MODE
button
alternates between stereo mode and mono
mode.
Stereo
“Stereo” appears on the display for a few seconds, and
then it will turn to “ST”.
When a program is broadcast in stereo, you hear stereo
sound. When in monaural, you hear monaural sound.

If the sound is distorted, the signal is not strong
enough for good stereo reception. In this case,
change to mono mode.
Mono
“Mono” appears on the display for a few seconds, and
then it will turn to “MO”.
To compensate for weak FM stereo reception, select
this mode. Reception will now be forced into monaural,
reducing unwanted noise.
If the reception is poor
For the best reception, rotate the FM antenna or AM
antenna until you get stations clearly (pages 6 - 7
