147 Exploring Your Computer's Features Exploring audio features TECHNICAL NOTE: If you record MP3 files, you can only play them on a device capable of playing MP3 files. Using a microphone To record high-quality sounds, you can use the internal microphone or attach an external microphone: 1 If you are using the internal microphone, which is located near the front left corner of the computer, go to step 4. Otherwise, connect an external microphone to the computer, by locating the microphone jack on the left side of the computer. 2 Plug the microphone cord into the microphone jack on your computer. 3 Turn on the microphone. 4 Click Start, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder. The Sound Recorder screen displays. Positioning bar Record Stop Play Skip forward Skip backward (Sample Image) Sound Recorder screen 5 Click the Record button. 6 Speak normally into the microphone.
